MEET DURAND PD
Stanley Ridgeway
Chief
Chief Ridgeway grew up in Pepin, Wisconsin. He got his Associate's Degree at Western Technical College and attended Law Enforcement Academy (LE Academy) there as well. He started his law enforcement career as a police officer for Pepin PD in 1999 before being hired full-time with the Trempealeau Police Department in 2000. He was promoted to chief in 2002 and then hired in Durand as police chief in 2011. In his free time, Chief Ridgeway enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and sports.
John Schellhorn
Sergeant
Sergeant Schellhorn grew up in River Falls, Wisconsin. He received a Bachelor's Degree from UW-Eau Claire in Criminal Justice and attended LE Academy at the CVTC in Eau Claire, as well. He started full-time with Arcadia PD and also worked part-time with Independence PD, Strum PD, and UW-River Falls PD, before being hired on with Durand full-time in 2017. When he has time, Sergeant Schellhorn enjoys hiking camping, hunting, and any other outdoor activities.
Brandon Bonnerup
School Resource Officer
Officer Bonnerup grew up in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He got his Bachelor's Degree from UW-Stout in Criminal Justice and Rehabilitation and attended LE Academy in CVTC - Eau Claire. He started working part-time for Pepin PD and Durand PD and also as a reserve deputy with Dunn County before being hired full-time for Durand PD in 2018. He enjoys hunting, fishing, biking, and running.
Mike Stahlke
Police Officer
Officer Stahlke grew up in Southwest WI and obtained an associate degree in law enforcement from RCTC in Rochester, MN. He lived in Hager City, WI for 11 years before beginning his diversified law enforcement career in 2012. He has worked as a Deputy in Maryland, an officer in Missouri, and a Deputy and Chief of Police in Wisconsin. He has recently relocated back to the area near family and is excited to become part of the community. Officer Stahlke enjoys spending time with his family, attending his children's events, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, working on cars, and helping out on the family farm.
Logan Tulip
Police Officer
Officer Tulip grew up in Pepin, Wisconsin. He attended UW-River Falls, and then CVTC in Eau Claire and Western Technical College in Sparta where he completed the LE Academy. He started part time with the Durand Police Department in June 2023 before being hired on full time in March 2024. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and sports. He enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard in November 2019 as an infantryman and has been serving since.
Sam
Therapy Dog
Sam the Therapy Dog was put into service on 11/21/23. Sam services the local community by offering them support during traumatic incidents and mental health crises. By deploying a therapy dog, a victim may be able to have comfort with the dog and start their own healing process. Sam is also used to support local first responders. The name Sam was submitted with a generous donation by Bauer Built Inc., the name Sam is from Bauer Built Inc. founder Sam Bauer.
